Why does God allow suffering and pain?

By Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye

Scripture

John 16:33; Romans 8:28

This is one of the hardest questions, and God does not leave us without hope. Much suffering flows from a broken world and human choices, not from God's desire to hurt us. Yet He promises to work all things together for good for those who love Him — not that everything is good, but that nothing is wasted. Jesus Himself suffered, so you never suffer alone. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart: He has overcome the world, and He is near to the brokenhearted.

Prayer

Father, thank You for meeting me in my questions. Give me wisdom to understand Your truth, faith to trust You where I cannot yet see, and grace to walk it out today. Anchor my heart in John 16:33; Romans 8:28. In Jesus' name, amen.
