How do I forgive someone who deeply hurt me?

By Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye

Scripture

Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13

Forgiveness is hard because the wound is real — but holding onto bitterness only chains you to the pain. We forgive not because the offense was small, but because we have been forgiven so much. Be kind and tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you. Forgiveness is a decision to release the debt to God, often repeated over time as feelings catch up. It does not always mean restored trust or no boundaries, but it does free your heart. Ask God for the grace; He gives it.

Prayer

Father, thank You for meeting me in my questions. Give me wisdom to understand Your truth, faith to trust You where I cannot yet see, and grace to walk it out today. Anchor my heart in Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13. In Jesus' name, amen.
